Our new building arrived yesterday. It arrived in six sections; each one loaded onto a low loader and driven down from Hull overnight. There was a slight hitch as the first one got caught out by the tightness of the Riverhead roundabout – apologies to all whose journey may have been delayed!
The crane arrived at the crack of dawn. The first unit at about 11am.
The last unit, above, was craned in at about 4.30pm
Children and their families came and went during the day to follow progress. Members of staff came along to get a first glimpse of their new rooms. Surprise visit of the day (although we should’ve known better!) was from Frances Dick, the first Chairman of the Management Committee, who retired only four years ago.
Lewis Ashley and their team finally left at six in the evening – a long day for them, but an immensely gratifying one, or so they told me. Thanks to every one of them for their expertise, patience and good humour – what a great bunch!
And two of the them were even there on Sunday, making sure the building was weatherproof. Another full day for them. Thank you.
