As Jean takes a back seat at the Nursery and hands over the reins to Rachel, I thought you might like a brief summary of why the Trustees asked her to take over as Acting Nursery Manager.

Rachel has been with us since July 2012 when she arrived as a young, wet-behind-the-ears, newly, fully-qualified childcare professional.  She has since added lots of cpd training to her résumé and, more importantly, has gained experience of, and great insight into, children’s behaviour, physical and emotional needs and development.  She has earned increasing levels of responsibility:- training co-ordinator, SENCO, admissions and room leadership.  And she has earned the respect of staff and parents alike.  Rachel drives in from Tunbridge Wells every day. She says her new position as Acting Nursery Manager holds no fears for her and, having witnessed her performance during our last Ofsted visit, I can believe it! . . .

. . . but if you could take it easy on her for the first few days I’m sure she’d appreciate it.

Oh, and by the way, Rachel’s surname is Walkling . . . Walk ling . . . and not Waking, Walking or Wakling . . . it took me a while to get it and I’m the HR Manager.
